ABOUT US

COORDINATING THE NATIONAL SYSTEM OF INNOVATION AROUND INNOVATIVE AND EMERGING SANITATION TECHNOLOGIES

The SASTEP platform organises various components, systems, role players, and resources required to foster a new and emerging sanitation industry in South Africa. Through strategic partnerships with stakeholders and policymakers, SASTEP enhances existing policy and regulatory frameworks to promote water for sanitation initiatives, support sustainable solutions, and remove barriers to a new sanitation paradigm. By providing guidance and support, the programme champions the harmonisation of product and performance standards for emerging technologies – including wastewater treatment systems – to ensure cost-effective, waste-minimising, and productivity-driven outcomes across the sanitation value chain.
