Brief Description

The Arumloo low flush toilet flushes on 2 liters of water and provides an odour free, hygienic solution for school sanitation. The school ablution facility is housed within the ‘Fresh Block’ a modular steel frame structure with commercial quality partitions and doors to ensure that the school sanitation facility is housed within a clean facility capable of withstanding the high wear and tear of a school environment. The butterfly roof structure is designed to harvest rainwater for flushing and handwashing.

The DEWdrop ecological wastewater treatment system is integrated into the facility to provide the passive treatment of the faecal waste. It provides a passive, low energy, low technology treatment system that enables the robust treatment of effluent to achieve the targets defined by the General Authorisation limits for effluent discharge. The demonstration of the Arumloo and Dew drop system tests its application in a rural school context for greater impact, demonstrating versatility, sustainable capital, and operational cost.
