The project developed an automated nutrient recovery system, the LiquidGold diamond reactor. The reactor recovers struvite (high-value dry bio-fertilizer) from urine. The urine is further treated to produce safe, clean water to be used to flush toilets in a closed loop system. The reactor is fully automated, off-grid, and cost-effective, with remote monitoring solutions for pH, and water levels. The introduction of an automated off-grid Struvite Reactor will lead to full-scale clean technology manufacturing, contributing to the development of a circular economy market that would produce high value fertilizer, improve water security, reduce pollution, create jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities, and contribute to the country’s GDP.
